Crystal Palace were held to a goalless draw by Leeds at Elland Road despite producing the better chances and appearing to have found a second-half winner through Tyrick Mitchell.
Leeds extended their unbeaten start to the season, but Palace turned in one of their strongest performances of the campaign. The visitors initially defended deep, yet they remained a threat on the counter-attack, with Jorgen Strand Larsen denied by a timely recovery challenge from Tarik Muharemovic.
James Trafford was tested by Daichi Kamada before the interval, and the Leeds goalkeeper then made an excellent low stop to keep out Yeremy Pino’s free-kick after the restart. Kamada also sent an effort narrowly wide as Palace continued to create openings.
Palace thought they had taken the lead when Mitchell struck after Anan Khalaili’s cross deflected off Muharemovic. Referee Adam Herczeg initially awarded the goal, but VAR overturned the decision after ruling that Khalaili had been offside.
Leeds came close to making Palace pay for that reprieve when Dominic Calvert-Lewin met James Justin’s cross from close range, only to fire straight at Walter Benitez. Palace remained the more threatening side thereafter, with Adam Wharton influential in midfield and Kamada heading just wide of the post.
Ismaila Sarr was also stopped by another well-timed Muharemovic tackle inside the area, while Leeds were unable to find a way through Palace’s organised defence. The point extended Leeds’ unbeaten run, but Palace were left to reflect on a missed opportunity to claim all three points.
