Crystal Palace were held to a 0-0 draw by Leeds at Elland Road, despite creating the clearer chances and producing a much-improved display. The result extended Leeds’ unbeaten start to the Premier League season, while Palace had to settle for a point.

Palace initially adopted a cautious shape without the ball, but remained a threat on the counter-attack. Jorgen Strand Larsen was denied by a well-timed recovery tackle from Tarik Muharemovic, while Walter Benitez was also called into action to keep out a Daichi Kamada effort.

Palace continued to look dangerous after the interval. James Trafford made an excellent low save to turn away Yeremy Pino’s free-kick, before Kamada sent another effort narrowly wide. The visitors then appeared to take the lead when Tyrick Mitchell finished after Anan Khalaili’s cross deflected off Muharemovic, but VAR ruled the goal out for offside against Khalaili.

Leeds nearly took advantage of that reprieve when Dominic Calvert-Lewin met James Justin’s cross from close range, only to fire directly at Benitez. Palace remained the more threatening side, with Adam Wharton influential in midfield and Kamada heading just wide of the post.

Ismaila Sarr also went close late on, but Muharemovic made another important challenge inside the penalty area. Leeds could not find a way through Palace’s organised defence, leaving the visitors with a point from a performance that suggested significant improvement.
