Crystal Palace were held to a 0-0 draw by Leeds, with goalkeeper James Trafford taking advantage of another opportunity to catch the eye amid Dean Henderson’s absence from the Palace goal and the upcoming England squad.
Trafford had little to do during a quiet first half, but produced an important save after the interval. He reacted sharply to keep out a Yéremy Pino free-kick, which had surprised him by being struck from the edge of the penalty area.
The Leeds goalkeeper’s distribution was another notable feature of his performance. His composure with the ball at his feet is strengthening the case for him to compete with Jordan Pickford at international level.
A continued run of calm displays at Elland Road could see Trafford move closer to becoming England’s first-choice goalkeeper. For Palace, the clean sheet ensured they left Leeds with a point from a tightly contested encounter.
