Crystal Palace manager Pierre Sage has maintained his strong ties to Lyon after joining a group of Olympique Lyonnais supporters for a pétanque match in London.

Sage left Lyon in January 2025 after being removed from his position by John Textor. Following a remarkable season with Lens, he departed the club this summer to take charge of Crystal Palace.

Despite moving to England, the 47-year-old has remained closely connected to his former club and the city where he has deep personal ties. His partner, who is from Villeurbanne, has continued to live in Lyon and regularly visits him in England.

The couple recently played against the “Lyondoners”, a group of Lyon supporters based in the British capital. Sage had also met the same supporters at a London pub earlier in the season to watch one of Lyon’s matches.

The Palace boss is expected to continue that relationship, having promised the group that he will attend one of their Sunday matches in the near future.
