Walter Benítez produced a standout performance as Crystal Palace recovered from a period of sustained Nottingham Forest pressure to claim a 3-1 win at Selhurst Park.

The Argentina international’s most important contribution came in the first half, when he denied Liam Delap from close range. Morgan Gibbs-White’s effort had struck the underside of the crossbar, leaving Delap with what appeared to be a clear opportunity to score.

Benítez reacted brilliantly, getting back to his feet and preventing the ball from crossing the line. With Forest threatening to take control, the intervention proved a crucial moment in keeping Palace within reach of the visitors.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Benítez admitted the speed and proximity of the chance meant he could not recall every detail of the save. He said his focus had been on placing his body behind the ball and doing whatever he could to help the team.

Palace changed the momentum either side of half-time, with Daichi Kamada, Jefferson Lerma and Yéremy Pino all finding the net. Benítez felt the team created more opportunities after the interval and continued pushing for further goals as Palace completed the turnaround.
