Adler Nascimento’s impressive start to the season has earned the Crystal Palace Under-21s forward a nomination for October’s Premier League 2 Player of the Month award.

Nascimento played a starring role in the Young Eagles’ 4-1 comeback against Leeds United at Thorp Arch. He opened his account by taking advantage of a misplaced pass, then put Palace in front by converting a penalty won by Joe Gibbard.

The forward completed his hat-trick shortly after half-time, meeting the ball first time from the edge of the area following a combination between Nat Kalembo and Seb Williams. He also scored against Aston Villa earlier in the campaign and was nominated for September’s Goal of the Month after finding the net with a spectacular free-kick against Paris Saint-Germain.

Nascimento added another appearance against Southampton in Palace’s other Premier League 2 fixture during October. His overall record now stands at five goals and two assists from nine appearances.

The Young Eagles are scheduled to return to Premier League 2 action against Everton on Sunday, 8 November, with kick-off at 12:00. The match will be available to watch live on Palace TV+.

Palace will go into that fixture after a 2-1 win over Newport County in the EFL Trophy, a result that took the academy into the competition’s knockout stages for the first time. Nascimento’s award rivals include nominees from Nottingham Forest, Norwich City, Tottenham Hotspur, Sunderland, AFC Bournemouth and Derby County. The Premier League Football Development Panel selected the nominees and will determine the winner, which is due to be announced next week.
