Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton has been tipped to leave Selhurst Park next summer, with former Chelsea star John Obi Mikel predicting a move to Manchester United for the England international.
Wharton’s future has attracted speculation for some time, and recent reports have suggested that Palace could demand at least £80million before considering his departure. Mikel believes the Eagles may keep the midfielder for one more season before a potential transfer.
Speaking on The Obi One Podcast, Mikel made clear his admiration for Wharton and backed him to reach the highest level. However, when discussing the midfielder’s next move, he identified Manchester United as a possible destination.
Mikel also said he would welcome Wharton at Chelsea, describing him as a player he would want at Stamford Bridge. He added that Chelsea would need to find the right approach with their squad and new manager before deciding which additions would fit their plans.
For Palace, the prediction places further focus on Wharton’s long-term future, with a possible £80million price tag underlining the value attached to the midfielder. At this stage, Mikel’s Manchester United suggestion remains a prediction rather than confirmation of a transfer.
